These simple steps will help you keep your gas grill looking great for years to come.
What You Need
Directions for Cleaning a Gas Grill:
Make sure your grill is cool before cleaning.
- Before you start: Turn off the gas supply and detach the gas line from the grill.
- Grill grates: Remove the grill grates and coat with Simple Green. Allow to soak for several minutes before scrubbing the grates with a stainless steel grill brush. Rinse well.
- Burner covers: Remove the V-shaped burner plates and spray with Simple Green. Let sit for several minutes and scrub clean with a scrubber pad. Rinse well.
- Burner tubes: Disconnect the burner tubes. Spray with Simple Green and allow to penetrate for several minutes. Use a pipe cleaner to reopen any blocked holes and rinse thoroughly.
- Bottom: Use a paper towel to wipe out the bottom of the grill. Then, coat with Simple Green and allow to sit for several minutes. Wipe clean and rinse thoroughly.
- Underside: Coat the underside of the lid with Simple Green. Use a scrubber pad to remove carbon buildup. Wipe out and rinse thoroughly.
- Outside (optional): Spray Simple Green on the outside of the grill and wipe down with a clean cloth or paper towel. For stainless steel grills, use Simple Green Stainless Steel One-Step Cleaner & Polish to give the outside a polished finish.
- Clean up: Put the grill back together. Reconnect the gas line, and set the burners on HIGH for 5 minutes to burn off remaining residue.
