HOW TO CLEAN AWNINGS

What You Need

Whether you're welcoming guests to your home or customers to your business, first impressions start before anyone even walks through the door. A clean, vibrant awning instantly boosts curb appeal, creating a warm, inviting atmosphere that says you care about your space. Over time, though, awnings exposed to the elements collect dust, pollen, bird droppings, mildew, and more. Left uncleaned, this buildup doesn't just dull your awning's appearance, it can shorten its lifespan and impact the overall look of your yard, patio, storefront, or entryway.

Routine cleaning doesn't have to mean using harsh chemicals or risking fabric damage. That's where U.S. EPA Safer Choice certified Simple GreenĀ® All-Purpose Cleaner comes in. This powerful cleaner cuts through dirt and grime while being non-abrasive, and bleach-free, so it's safer for use on colored fabrics and materials that might otherwise fade or deteriorate.

Cleaning your awning with Simple Green isn't just about maintenance, it's about pride. It's about making your backyard a place where you want to host dinner parties or turning your business entrance into a spot that feels fresh, cared for, and ready to welcome foot traffic. When your awning looks good, the whole space feels brighter, cleaner, and more enjoyable.

So, whether you're sprucing up your patio for the summer, freshening up your shopfront, or simply reclaiming your outdoor space from seasonal grime, Simple Green makes the job safe, simple, and satisfying. Let's bring back the beauty of your awnings, without harsh chemicals.

DIRECTIONS FOR CLEANING AWNINGS:

When in doubt about a surface, always spot test first.

  1. Clear your awnings of any debris before you begin.
  2. Prepare your Simple Green All-Purpose cleaning solution. For cleaning dirty awnings, you can do a 1:10 dilution, 1 part Simple Green to 10 parts water.
  3. If cleaning heavy soils, pre-wet the surface. This will help Simple Green penetrate thick grime and make it easier to wipe clean.
  4. Apply the Simple Green cleaning solution to your awnings.
  5. Allow the product to soak for a minute or so on heavy soils and built up grime.
  6. Scrub with a soft brush or non-abrasive scrubbing pad (this provides agitation that will help to loosen soils and will ensure a thoroughly clean, residue free surface).
  7. Rinse with clean water. You can hose down the awning or rinse by dousing from a bucket.
  8. Allow your awnings to air dry.
  9. Enjoy your bright, shiny clean results!
