HOW TO CLEAN PAINTED RIMS
Painted rims can get dirty from mud, grease, and road grime. Cleaning them regularly keeps your wheels looking clean and can prevent buildup that may damage the finish over time.
Using the right cleaner is important. Harsh chemicals or rough scrubbers can damage painted surfaces and leave scratches behind. A gentle cleaner can remove dirt without harming the finish.
Simple Green All-Purpose Cleaner removes brake dust, dirt, grease, oil, and grime from both lightly soiled rims and heavier buildup when used as directed.
Directions for Cleaning Painted Rims:
Tip: When in doubt about a surface, always spot test first.
- Wet surface. If the rims are heavily soiled, pre-wet them with water first. This helps loosen dirt and brake dust, making the rims easier to clean.
- Apply solution. Dilute Simple Green All-Purpose Cleaner at a 1:10 ratio (one part cleaner to ten parts water). Spray the solution onto the painted rims and allow it to sit for up to one minute, ensuring the cleaner does not dry on the surface.
- Gently scrub. Use a soft-bristled brush, microfiber cloth, or non-abrasive pad to loosen dirt, grease, and road grime. Avoid abrasive tools that could scratch the painted finish.
- Rinse clean. Rinse the rims thoroughly with clean water before the solution has a chance to dry.
- Dry surface. Dry the rims with a clean microfiber cloth or soft towel. This helps prevent water spots and leaves the painted finish looking clean and bright.
