HOW TO CLEAN A CAR MIRROR

What You Need

Car mirrors are easy to smudge and streak, especially if using improper cleaning techniques. Most people spray cleaning solution directly onto the car mirror, however, the cleaning solution can seep behind the silver coating and create black tarnish marks on the mirror. It is also common to wipe mirrors in circular motions to remove dust, dirt, and oils. However, this can spread those particles across the surface, redepositing residue from the cloth fibers and leaving behind cloudiness or streaks, making it harder to see clearly when using your rearview or side mirrors while driving.

For a safer, streak-free finish without harsh chemicals, Simple Green Ready-To-Use Glass Cleaner gets the job done without ammonia or harsh synthetic chemicals.

Directions for Cleaning a Car Mirror:

Tip: For best results, clean mirrors when the glass is cool to the touch and out of direct sunlight.

  1. Spray cleaner on cloth. Lightly spray Simple Green Ready-To-Use Glass Cleaner on a clean, dry microfiber cloth.
  2. Wipe mirror. Use small S-shaped motions, working in small sections if needed to wipe the entire surface until it is clean. As dust and debris collect near the edge of the mirror, use a clean section of your cloth to wipe it away.
  3. Dry. Use a clean microfiber cloth to absorb excess moisture and lightly buff the mirror for a streak-free finish.
