HOW TO CLEAN SHUTTERS


Cleaning the exterior shutters of your home at least once a year will keep it looking great, extend the lifespan of the shutters and help prevent costly replacements. Shutters tends to accumulate dirt, grime, and debris between the slats, but with a bit of preventative maintenance, your home's window shutters could potentially be trouble free for many years to come.


DIRECTIONS:


USING A PRESSURE WASHER

  1. Rinse off the surface of the shutters using the pressure washer or garden hose to remove any loose dirt and debris buildup between the slats.
  2. Place the pressure washer's siphon and filter into your container, or pour into the pressure washer's detergent reservoir.
  3. Apply Simple Green House and Siding Cleaner to the window shutters, starting at the top and keeping the tip at least 2 feet from the surface.
  4. Allow 5-10 minutes for the solution to loosen heavy build up. Do not allow the solution to dry on the surface.
  5. Scrub visibly dirty areas lightly to remove heavy stains.
  6. Rinse well with pressure washer, making sure to go side-to-side and top-to-bottom of the shutter doors. Be sure to remove all cleaner and lifted dirt from the surface.

MANUAL APPLICATION

  1. Hose down the surface of the shutters to help remove loose dirt and debris that has built up between the slats.
  2. Mix 2 cups Simple Green House and Siding Cleaner per gallon of water.
  3. Apply the solution in sections, using a pump sprayer or soft, non-abrasive scrub brush.
  4. Allow 5-10 minutes for the solution to loosen dirt. Do not allow the solution to dry on the surface of the shutters.
  5. Scrub visibly dirty areas lightly to remove heavy dirt and stains.
  6. Rinse well with a garden hose, making sure to go side-to-side and top-to-bottom of the window shutters. Be sure to remove all cleaner and dirt lifted from the surface.

Not for use on untreated wood shutters
