HOW TO CLEAN BRUSHED NICKEL FAUCET

What You Need

  • Old toothbrush
  • Microfiber cloths

Sure, a brushed nickel finish makes for a relatively matte surface when compared to materials like chrome or brass. But just because it doesn't necessarily sparkle doesn't mean you can slack off on cleaning your brushed nickel faucets and door handles.

This material tends to look dull over time because of mineral deposits, soap scum accumulation, and hard water stains. Despite these bathroom and kitchen faucets and fixtures being quick to collect blemishes, they are not necessarily hard to clean.

It's important to steer clear of abrasive cleaning pads and products. Those that contain bleach or alcohol- or ammonia-based glass cleaners may leave behind dark marks and ultimately ruin the finish. Similarly, a white vinegar solution may do the trick for light dust but is no match for soils like oily hand residue.

Keep brushed nickel fixtures and faucets clean with Simple Green All-Purpose Cleaner. The concentrated cleaner easily eliminates everyday grime and water stains without corroding metal when it's used as directed. The formula is clean-rinsing and optimized for use in kitchens and bathrooms.

Directions for Cleaning Brushed Nickel Faucets:

  1. Mix your Simple Green solution. Add 1 oz. of Simple Green All-Purpose Cleaner to 1 cup of water in an empty spray bottle.
  2. Apply. Spray the solution onto the brushed nickel surface and let it sit for a minute or so.
  3. Scrub. Use a wet, soft toothbrush to scrub, paying close attention to the crevices.
  4. Rinse. Rinse the surface with clean water or thoroughly wipe down with a clean damp cloth.
  5. Dry. Buff with a dry cloth.

TIP: Once a month, spread a layer of paste wax onto the surface using a soft, dry cloth. Apply in small, circular motions. After you've covered the entire surface, buff it out with a new cloth. Paste wax is generally made from mineral spirits, which makes it gentle on brushed nickel finishes.
