HOW TO REMOVE CRAYON FROM WALLS

Coloring outside the lines, or even off the pge altogether, is an all-too-common occurrence for little kids. Keeping your walls clean and free of crayon can be a difficult task if you have children at home.

If the house is silent, there's a good chance even the sweetest little angels are up to no good. Parents frequently find home walls decorated with scribbly crayon masterpieces, their proudly grinning child nearby, still wielding a handful of colors. Look on the bright side! At least it's not permanent marker (this time).

When cleaning any painted wall it's important to use a non-abrasive cleaning solution that won't discolor or diminish your paint. Home-remedy cleaning tips suggest outlandish things like using a hair dryer or mayonnaise on the crayon marks. Cleaning methods like these can actually damage the paint or the wall itself. Plus, who has the time to sit around melting crayon wax off the living room walls with hot water and a blow dryer?

Whether your walls are coated with latex or oil-based paint, using Simple Green All-Purpose Cleaner can get rid of crayon marks on walls, and keep them looking great until the next art project.

Directions for Cleaning Crayon Marks on Walls:

  1. Mix cleaner. Mix 1 ounce of Simple Green All-Purpose Cleaner with 2 cups of water. For lighter jobs, mix 1 ounce of Simple Green with 4 cups of water. Spot test a small, hidden area before use.
  2. Apply cleaner. Spray your Simple Green solution directly on the wall. Allow the solution to soak for a minute on crayon stains or other scuff marks. If needed, gently scrub with a soft bristle scrub brush or sponge to help to loosen crayon.
  3. Wipe with a damp rag. Wipe the area with a damp cloth or damp paper towels.
  4. Dry walls completely. Use a clean, non-abrasive cloth to wipe down oil-based gloss or semi-gloss walls for a streak-free finish. (This step is not necessary on latex paint.)
